2025 review

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2026
A very Happy New Year to all our friends, supporters, and adopters. A hearty thank you goes to everyone who helps us in so many different ways.
2025 REVIEW
In 2025 we took in a total of 35 Trailhounds, of which:
18 were found private homes by ourselves., either with seasoned or new-to-the-breed adopters
15 went to supportive rehoming centres around the country, who have helped us over the years to find wonderful retirement homes
1 is currently on a home trial
2 are currently in a foster home, with potential homes in the pipeline
We had a successful summer with our fundraising/information stand at a number of events and fun dog shows. For the first time, we had a stall at Grasmere Lakeland Sports & Show, which was very productive. If you know of any events that may be suitable for us, please get in touch.
As well as being homed as pampered pets, a number of our retired hounds are enjoying life taking part in canicross and agility competitions. They are a very versatile breed.
In 2025, we welcomed some new trustees. One of our long term trustees, Jenny Thomas, retired but she has still been available to help out if needed. We would like to say a big thank you to Jenny for all her hard work.
We have some exciting things happening in 2026 so keep an eye on our social media for updates! Please keep sharing our posts and promoting our hounds to help us find new converts to our lovely breed.
From the LTW team

2023 REVIEW

2023 REVIEW
45 trailhounds have been helped into retirement homes by LTW during 2023. Here is a breakdown:
  • 36 trailhounds have been found amazing homes all over the U.K. by our team (this includes 8 puppies)
  • 8 hounds were sent to trusted rehoming centres. Homing via these centres helps us greatly to find new converts to the breed
  • 1 hound is currently with us in foster, (he has his bags packed ready to go to his new home next week!)
  • Our small LTW team of trustees is indebted to our supporters and volunteers who all help to promote and support our work. If you would like to know more about the work we do, and possibly get more involved, drop us an email.
🍷PEOPLE WISHING TO ADOPT, AND HOUND TRAILERS WISHING TO REHOME THEIR HOUNDS – check out our homing page for lots more information about how we can help. Details here: https://www.trailhoundwelfare.org.uk/category/hounds/
🌈 As always, our thoughts are with those who lost a treasured companion in 2023 🌈

ENTRIES FOR OUR 2024 CALENDAR TO BE IN BY 30th SEPTEMBER 2023

Just to let you know that I’m helping out the over-worked calendar elves again this year, and will be collecting photographs of your beautiful boys and girls, along with a couple of sentences with funny facts, hilarious habits, or houndy howlers. Seasonal pictures would be good, (and will help me a lot in the design process!), photos of your hounds enjoying sports would be great, action shots, anything which shows them off! If you can, please include pet name, racing name, age/date of birth, “gotcha day”, where they were re-homed from, etc.
*PLEASE NOTE: photographs will need to be high resolution and full-size. Images taken from social media pages will not be adequate for printing, sadly.
Please email your photos and info to me: emilysavage80@gmail.com
⭐️ DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF PHOTOS: 30th SEPTEMBER ⭐️
I look forward to hearing from you and admiring all of your lovely hounds! Emily Savage

2022 REVIEW

*  LTW has helped 44 trailhounds during 2022.
*  We have found 27 fantastic private retirement homes.
*  We have sent a further 16 hounds to trusted rehoming centres. Homing via these centres helps us greatly to find new converts to the breed.
*  We have one hound with us in foster whilst he recuperates fully from a leg operation.
Some of our summer fundraising events were adversely affected by the weather….not the usual rain but the extreme heat! That was a first! We sold a record breaking 200 LTW calendars in 2022. We also attended the Keswick Victorian Fayre for the first time, which was very successful.
*  LTW is run by a small team of trustees with amazing support from volunteers and well wishers. We thank everyone who gives their time and support, mostly quietly and behind the scenes. We are truly indebted to you all.
*  PEOPLE WISHING TO ADOPT AND HOUND TRAILERS WISHING TO REHOME THEIR HOUNDS – check out our homing page on our website for lots more information about how we can help. Details here: https://www.trailhoundwelfare.org.uk/category/hounds/
🌈 Please take a moment to remember some of the lovely hounds who our friends have lost in 2022. 🌈
